Beyond Boxing is more than just about hitting the heavy bag. It’s an opportunity for self-defence, fitness, and mental strength as you learn new strategies in motion with focused rapid movements that will make your heart race!

So, with that being said, do you still need to hit the weights if you already get your workout from boxing? The answer is yes, but it is not your focus. Instead, strength training should be used as a means to enhance your boxing training.

When boxers join our Boxing Conditioning classes, they already get a lot of strength and conditioning training, which improves our students’ muscular and cardiovascular endurance. Though this is enough, strength training from lifting weights on top of joining our classes also provides great benefits for boxers because it further increases their muscle mass and stability, which in turn leads to a better performance in the ring.

Boxing isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle that consists of practicing both self-defence and fitness.

Have you ever seen an athlete refuse to work out? Yes, but most of them practice the 90/10 rule – 90% yes to work out and 10% relaxing. Athletes train regularly and know that fitness is essential if one wants results from their training program! Boxing athletes have made it a lifestyle to practice both self-defence and fitness.

That is why, as a boxer, you can not avoid strength training on top of your regular boxing training. Strength training will help you maximize your boxing performance by further strengthening your muscles.

Boxing boosts your strength and strength training boosts your boxing performance.
A boxing session can burn up to one thousand calories per hour when practicing at a high intensity. So, training to be a boxer is more than just learning how to punch. It’s also about developing your body to have the muscle memory and endurance necessary to be efficient so you don’t get tired that easily.

Improve your boxing performance by utilizing our Open Gym.
We recognize that strength training is a vital part of an efficient boxing training routine. So, our Open Gym sessions at Beyond Boxing allow our members to work on their fitness training beyond boxing and the ring.
